A Brief History of Keuka Construction
In 1952, Frank Smith, Lester Langhans, and Thomas McLaughlin founded Smith Langhans & McLaughlin, Inc. The company offered construction services to the commercial, industrial, public works, and residential markets in the Southern Tier of New York. The business also sold and installed pre-engineered steel structures.
In 1953, the company moved its office from 137 Cedar Street, Corning, NY to its current location at 196 West Sixth Street, Corning, NY. In 1968, Lester Langhans and Thomas McLaughlin retired from active participation in the company, so Smith Langhans & McLaughlin, Inc. was renamed, Frank N. Smith & Associates.
In 1970, Keuka Construction Corporation merged with Frank N. Smith & Associates. Keuka Construction was initially a merit shop company that works on commercial and industrial construction projects in the Steuben, Schuyler, and Yates counties of New York. The business also handled home and cottage construction jobs in Keuka Lake.
The merged company continued as a merit shop contracting organization, conducting its construction activity as Keuka Construction Corporation. In 1976, Charles A. Corrao joined Keuka Construction Corporation, and was appointed President and CEO of the company in 1980.
Frank Smith continued his association as the chairman of the company’s board of directors. In 1980, the business formally expanded its service area within the state of Pennsylvania. In 1995, Frank Smith retired, and Charles Corrao became the sole corporate principal of the company.
Today, Keuka Construction continues to provide general contracting and management services to the commercial, industrial, public works, and residential markets in Corning, NY. We also remain active in the pre-engineered metal building industry.
Our residential services include home and cottage alterations and additions. We also build boathouses, docks, and seawalls at various Finger Lakes locations, including the Steuben, Schuyler, and Yates counties of New York. Recently, we have resumed our work in new home construction.
